Assistant Project Manager
The Assistant Project Manager will drive project execution throughout the project life cycle, including acquisition, development, financing, construction, commissioning, and transitioning. The Assistant Project Manager and the Senior Vice President of Construction will collaborate closely with representatives from other internal business units such as development, engineering, and accounting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently oversee and manage the solar design, construction, and commissioning process for commercial and utility-scale projects.
- Guide the project through the permitting process.
- Collaborate directly with the engineers and subcontractors to ensure feasibility of project design.
- Conduct meetings on-site with engineers, owner’s representatives, and subcontractors.
- Responsible for overseeing the daily management aspects of construction: safety, QA/QC, AHJ inspections, etc. This includes problem resolution and dealing with the day-to-day issues of the construction process.
- Proficient in reading and understanding construction documents (civil, structural, and electrical drawings; equipment specifications; contracts; etc.)
- Enforce compliance with design documents.
- Implement all OSHA Construction Safety Standards including incident reporting.
- Respond to RFP’s from owners, perform drawing take-offs, evaluate project risks based on bid documents, compile pricing, etc.
- Create, update, and communicate the project schedule to ensure timely completion of the projects.
- Manage subcontractor bidding process, write subcontracts including detailed scopes of work based on requirements of project.
- Create and manage project budget, input actual costs, forecast project costs, and generate payment schedules.
- Evaluate and process subcontractor pay applications. Compile and evaluate Owner pay applications.
- Strong understanding of prime contract and subcontract language
- Compile and distribute weekly project reports.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strategist with a proven track record in complex problem-solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excel at collaborating and building strong partnerships.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- 2+ years experience in project management, construction, cost estimating, and project scheduling (preferred).
- Solar EPC experience (preferred)
Working Conditions:
Physical environment requiring employees to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. Lifting 50lb loads occasionally required. Frequent walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching required for inspections. Climbing ladders is occasionally required.
Frequent travel is required.
