The Commercial Asset Manager is responsible for ensuring hep’s US solar projects meet all compliance requirements and financial targets. The Commercial Asset Manager will work with the Technical Asset Manager to identify and quickly address performance issues impacting the projects. They will also work with the accounting team to make sure all finance-related requirements are being completed and delivered to owners, lenders, tax equity partners, and any other relevant parties. They will track the financial performance of the projects to ensure they are hitting the required targets and staying within budget
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning and monitoring of the corresponding SPVs.
- Analyzing deviations from business case including development of measurements.
- Providing regular commercial reporting to sponsor & tax equity investors.
- Providing regular reporting to financing parties (e. g. banks) incl. covenant compliance management.
- Leading negotiations with Operations & Maintenance providers.
- Supporting German Investment Management entity with regards to risk management, due diligence, and investment decisions.
- Signing authority to initiate payments and cash management for SPVs in collaboration with Accounting and Funds Management.
- Fostering good team spirit, for which general office presence is required.
- Verify and approve park operating budgets to ensure they are accurate.
- Ensure all financial models are accurate at the different project phases and there is signoff from all relevant parties.
- Responsible for registering relevant parks with REC tracking systems, claiming REC’s, transferring REC’s to offtakers, and invoicing offtakers for REC’s.
- Ensure correct bank accounts are set up with utilities, payments are made, and payments are correct amounts.
- Responsible for registering parks with necessary governmental regulators and keeping registrations current and compliant (EIA, NERC, etc.)
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Direct experience identifying and troubleshooting solar PV assets preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing a portfolio of renewable energy assets.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and an open communication style.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with little supervision.
- Proficiency in utilizing established solar monitoring programs, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong understanding of accounting.
Education and Experience:
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing financial reporting and analysis. Minimum of 4 years of experience in energy and finance.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, or business administration
Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous conditions.
